Obituary of J. Luckey Sanders

Mr. J. Luckey Sanders, 71, husband of Kay Altman Sanders, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. He was born in Florence County, South Carolina, a son of the late James Thomas Sanders, Sr. and the late Jessie Hammond Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a Professional Land Surveyor and owned his own business, J. Luckey Sanders Land Surveyors, serving Georgetown County and surrounding areas for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being on the course with his many friends. Mr. Sanders was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished the time spent with his family. Surviving are: his loving wife of 51 years; two sons, Jesse Luckey “Bubba” Sanders, Jr. and his wife Sheila, Bruce Hammond Sanders and his wife Tess; 5 grandchildren, Kaylin, Kora, Jesse, Janna, and Hammond, all of Georgetown; one brother, James Thomas Sanders, Jr. and his wife Martha of Columbia, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sanders’ home on Black River located at 83 Cree Trail, Georgetown, SC 29440 from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Frances Animal Center, 125 North Ridge Street, Georgetown, South Carolina 29440.
