Georgetown Donald Ray High, 59, passed away Tuesday March 8, 2016 at Tidelands Hospice House of Georgetown surrounded by his family and friends. Born August 11, 1956 in Georgetown, he was a son of the late John Frank High and the late Dorothy Sanders High. Mr. High’s passion was music. He was a former DJ that enjoyed the beach, spending time with his friends and family, and playing beach music. Surviving are his companion and best friend of over 25 years, Jerry Shelley of Georgetown; two brothers, John Allen High of Georgetown, and Roy Arnold High (Marylou) of McClellanville; two sisters, Marie High Humphrey (Gary) of West Columbia, and Teresa High Carmichael (Charles) of Prosperity; and his beloved pet cat “Lilly Mae”. A graveside memorial service, officiated by Reverend Steve Wilkins, will be held 3 P.M. Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Elmwood Cemetery, weather permitting. If inclement weather threatens, the memorial service will be held in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home, 2200 South Fraser Street, in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tidelands Hospice House, 2591 N. Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440 or MUSC Foundation for Undesignated Gifts Fund, 18 Bee Street MSC 450, Charleston, SC 29425.
