Carmel K. Davis, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Tidelands Hospice House. Born December 12, 1921 in Charleston, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Karnes and Edith S. Naumonwicz. A graveside funeral service, officiated by Chaplain Billy Miles, will take place Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 2pm in Elmwood Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was a member of Winyah Episcopal Church and a former member of the altar guild. She loved sports and enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s games. She loved USC athletics and traveling to baseball games. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Surviving are: one son, Eugene Vance Davis Jr. (Gloria) of Georgetown; two daughters, Sybil D. Johnson and Carole Sawyer (Tommy) both of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Alicia A Johnson of Georgetown, Clint Sawyer (Anne) of Pawleys Island, Carmel S. Mamajek (Gene) of Litchfield, Carole Ann Sawyer of Georgetown, Eugene V. “Bubba” Davis III (Tasha) of Georgetown, and Christopher Davis (Elizabeth) of Georgetown, six great grandchildren Joshua S. Mamajek, Hannah Mamajek, Christian Davis, Christopher Davis, Elijah Davis, and Lizzie Moore; one brother in law, Jeff Davis of Conway; and her beloved dogs, Lady and Susie. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Eugene Vance Davis Sr. and a son in law, Johnnie V.
