Obituary of Alfred Avant

Alfred Avant, 84, widower of Jacquelyne Rawls Avant, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at home. Born on February 8, 1930, in Johnsonville, he was the son of Sally Avant. Mr. Avant was a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was retired from International Paper Company of Georgetown and also was a US Army Veteran. Survivors include one son, Wallace Avant (Glenda) and one daughter, Gwen Lambert both of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Christine Anderson (Ryan), Janet Avant and Jonathan Lambert all of Georgetown; two great grandchildren, Ethan Anderson and Corrin Anderson both of Georgetown; and one sister, Luretha Williams of Greer, SC. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Rabon officiating. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Graham Funeral Home. Graham Funeral Home of Georgetown is in charge of the arrangements. www.grahamfuneralhome.org
