Obituary of Dorothy Harter

Dorothy Baker Harter, 77, wife of William T. "Bill" Harter, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born on February 22, 1934 in McEwen, TN she was a daughter of the late John Elton Baker and the late Emma May Baker. Mrs. Harter was a member of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church where she was active in the Young at Heart group and retired after many years from Herbert Memorial Playschool. Survivors include her husband of Georgetown; two sons, William Marcus "Mark" Harter (Teresa) of Georgetown and John Bryan Harter (Judy) of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Allen Marcus Harter of Georgetown and Travis Ross Harter of Georgetown; one brother, Hershel Baker of McEwen, TN; five sisters, Jo Ann Parchman of White Bluff, TN, Lillie Mae Wheeler of Goodlettsville, TN, Zella Wright of McEwen, TN, Faye Young of McEwen, TN and Eva Young of McEwen, TN; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard Tony Baker, Clyde Baker and Cleve Baker. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Leonhardt officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at Graham Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church, 84 Forest Ave. Georgetown, SC 29440.
